Cynarina Coral

Cynarina lacrymalis, commonly known as doughnut coral or button coral, is a large polyp stony coral found in the western Indo-Pacific Ocean, notable for its distinctive appearance and care requirements in reef aquaria. Characteristics Appearance: Cynarina lacrymalis features a single polyp that can grow up to 10 cm (3.9 inches) in diameter. It has a cylindrical shape with a round or oval upper surface, and its color can range from pale brown or green to pinkish or bluish, depending on the species of zooxanthellae (symbiotic algae) residing within it. The coral has broad, white septa (ridges) and can change its surface from glossy to dull. 1
